Matthew McConaughey Launches Whiskey with Help fro…

Alright alright alright whiskey drinkers, time for a new Bourbon to pop up on your radar and this one is being endorsed by Matthew McConaughey and… his mom. Seriously though, Matthew McConaughey is launching a new signature Wild Turkey bourbon, and he kicked the line off with his mom in a Facebook Live video.

The signature McConaughey whiskey, which comes via People Magazine, was just announced with a pair of videos, one on YouTube (below), and one on Facebook Live. And during the latter, the Academy Award-winning actor was joined by his mom, who really didn’t have anything to do with the making of the whiskey, but is still pretty baller.

McConaughey’s Wild Turkey line is dubbed Longbranch, which is some kind of reference to how people reach out to each other or how McConaughey reached out to Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller Eddie Russel or how Russel reached out to McConaughey or how people make connections in general maybe? It’s all outlined in the booze’s press release, and anyway it’s alcohol — it’ll probably help you connect with somebody somehow somewhere.

In terms of how the Bourbon will taste, expect a whiskey with a range of flavors including caramel, pear, and hints of citrus. Longbranch will also be filtrated twice, with one filtration process utilizing charcoal made from American White Oak and the second using charcoal made from Texas Mesquite wood, which should add extra “notes of smoky sweetness” to the Bourbon. And if you don’t know what any of that means, please check out this Ultimate Whiskey 101 Guide, or these quick 10 tips on how to how to become a whiskey expert.

If you want to get your McConaugh-hands on some of this Longbranch whiskey and you live in the U.S., you can grab it in May. Folks outside of the U.S. will have to wait until some time after that. Or you can just sip on one of the Bourbon cocktails below.
