Instant Pot recipes to make when you’re sick
My throat is feeling a little scratchy today and my kids are coming down with colds. This seems to always happen when we get back from vacations. I’m not sure if it is because of the plane ride or the brutal kick back into freezing temps. You can bet I’ll be using some of these Instant Pot recipe ideas to remedy the sickness. Hope these are helpful to you too!
There’s nothing better than chicken noodle soup when you’re feeling under the weather. This version is super easy to make but tastes really yummy. You can make it in the Instant Pot or the slow cooker.
More Soup Recipes
If you like chicken soups you might want to try these other options as well:
Instant Pot Chicken Lemon Orzo Soup (I love the bite of the lemon in this one)
Instant Pot Chicken and Rice Soup (like chicken noodle but with rice instead)
Instant Pot Chicken Barley Soup (chewy barley and other healthy immune building ingredients)
Instant Pot Thai Coconut Soup (the lemongrass and lime juice give this super flavor)
According to this healthline article, “Yogurt is an excellent food to eat when sick. It provides 150 calories and 8 grams of protein per cup. It’s also cold, which can sooth your throat. Yogurt is also rich in calcium and full of other vitamins and minerals. Some yogurts also contain beneficial probiotics. Evidence shows that probiotics can help both children and adults get colds less often, heal faster when sick and take fewer antibiotics.” If you have the yogurt button on your Instant Pot you can make yogurt fairly easily. Here is my Instant Pot yogurt recipe.
Instant Pot Immune Booster Tea is just the thing that you need to make and drink if you’ve come down with a cold or are starting to feel a little icky. It’s also a really fabulous detox tea!
If you’re following the BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) diet because of gastrointestinal sickness you can make your own homemade applesauce in the Instant Pot or in the slow cooker. In addition you can make rice in the Instant Pot.
This recipe for elderberry syrup calls for the magic of the Instant Pot. In just a few short minutes and some yummy ingredients you will have a super tasty immune boosting mixture that is perfect for these awful flu filled months!
What do you love to make when you’re nursing sick family members back to health? I’d love to know!
What Pressure Cooker Do You Use?
I use a 6 quart Instant Pot Duo 60 7 in 1*. I love this Instant Pot because it has the yogurt making function which I use almost weekly. It has two pressure settings (high and low), and there are also little slots in the handles so that you can rest the lid there instead of putting it down on your counter-top.
