Some of the city’s most exciting, soulful Vietnamese cuisine lives in the heart of Chicago’s Mexican-American community, in historic Pilsen. Inside husband/wife duo Thai and Danielle Dang’s genial wood and brick eatery (designed by Danielle), she mixes bold, botanical cocktails, while chef Thai plucks dishes from his family tree and the streets of Hanoi, presenting them in both classic and progressive ways. Think Gỏi Bạch Tuộc, or crispy octopus with confited eggplant, coconut cream, roasted peanuts and shaved radish (pictured). Get your banh mi fix at their adjacent cafe Cà Phê Dá, which peddles said sandwiches, coffee and cocktails morning through the wee hours.
